Ardbeg prides itself on being The Ultimate Islay Malt Whisky. Established in 1815, Ardbeg is revered by connoisseurs around the world as the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all the Islay malts. Despite its smokiness, Ardbeg is renowned for its delicious sweetness, a phenomenon that has affectionately become known as 'the peaty paradox’.
DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR
THE ARDBEG DISTILLERY WAS AWARDED DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN 2022 AT THE INTERNATIONAL WHISKY COMPETITION AND WAS AWARDED THE GOLDEN BARREL TROPHY IN 2021. IN 2023, THE ARDBEG DISTILLERY WAS AWARDED ISLAY DISTILLERY OF THE YEAR FOR THE FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW AT THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL SPIRITS COMPETITION.
OUR WHISKIES
TEN YEARS OLD
Ardbeg Ten Years Old is revered around the world as the peatiest, smokiest, most complex single malt of them all. Yet it does not flaunt the peat; rather it gives way to the natural sweetness of the malt to produce a whisky of perfect balance. The liquid is non chill-filtered and has a strength of 46% ABV, thus retaining maximum flavor, at the same time giving more body and added depth. It’s whisky with none of the goodness taken out!
- Color: Light Gold
- Nose: Smoky fruit, zesty lemon and lime, wrapped in waxy dark chocolate
- Taste: Crackling peat with tangy lemon and lime juice, black pepper pops with sizzling cinnamon-spiced toffee. Brine infused with smooth buttermilk and ripe bananas
- Finish: Long and smoky with tarry espresso, aniseed, toasted almonds and traces of soft barley and fresh pear
WEE BEASTIE
Our whisky creators set out to make the rawest, smokiest Ardbeg ever. The result is Ardbeg Wee Beastie and this tongue-tingling, beautifully smoky dram is the youngest Ardbeg we’ve ever made. A Monster of a Dram, Wee Beastie is a feisty young creature with a formidable taste. The younger the whisky the more powerful the smoke, making this untamed expression stand out amongst all other Islay Malts.
- Color: Bright Auric
- Nose: Very bright, fresh, herbal, with hints of vanilla, pear, freshly cracked black pepper, honey glazed ham. Rich Turkish coffee, sappy pine resin
- Taste: A rich, explosive mouthfeel with lots of chocolate, tar, creosote and smoked bacon, followed by a burst of antiseptic lozenges, eucalyptus and more aniseed
- Finish: A long, salty and mouth coating finish with hints of cocoa, fudge and savory meats
AN OA
An Oa brings together the finest casks in a specially designed marrying vat, the result is a whisky of complex contrasts: all the power and intensity of Ardbeg wrapped in an alluring silkiness. Round and subtly smoky, the depth of this non chill-filtered Islay single malt offers a curious suggestion of juicy peach and banana. The smooth, creamy taste is defined by syrupy sweetness, with flavors of milk chocolate, treacle toffee, aniseed, orange and smoky tea leaves. The distinct finish a lingering one, gentle yet intense.
- Color: Light Gold
- Nose: Rounded and subtly smoky, with creamy toffee, aniseed, treacle and dates
- Taste: Smooth, creamy, syrupy sweetness, with flavors of milk chocolate, aniseed, orange, nutmeg and smoky tea leaves
- Finish: Lingering, seductive, gentle yet intense, with flavors of aniseed, hickory and distant subtle smoke
UIGEADAIL
Ardbeg Uigeadail (pronounced ‘Oog-a-dal’) is a special vatting that marries Ardbeg’s traditional deep, smoky notes with luscious, raisiny tones of old ex-Sherry casks. It’s non-chill filtered at a high strength, which retains maximum flavor and gives more body and added depth. Uigeadail is Celtic for dark and mysterious.
- Color: Deepest Gold
- Nose: Sweet and smoky aroma with caramels, fudge, walnuts and leather
- Taste: Initially sweet, a burst of winter spices sets off a smoky-spicy explosion countered by a sumptuous mid-palate of honey glazed smoked food and chewy treacle
- Finish: Long and chewy with lingering raisiny, deep mocha tones and rich aromatic smoke
CORRYVRECKAN
Ardbeg Corryvreckan is named after Europe’s largest, and the world’s second largest whirlpool which lies beside the Hebridean Isles of Islay and Jura, off the West Coast of Scotland. Celebrated in Celtic mystery and legend, its raw, magnetic power exactly mirrors the big and untamed spirit of Ardbeg – the peatiest, smokiest and most complex of all Islay whiskies. The incredibly intense, spicy, tarry depths resulting from the French Oak influence is perfectly balanced with the addition of ‘classic’ Ardbeg.
- Color: Rich Amber
- Nose: Torrents of tarry ropes, creosote and linseed oil
- Taste: Rich, full mouthfeel with spicy pepper, smoked meat, espresso, dark fruits, treacle and star anise
- Finish: Long and powerful with black tarry coffee, chocolate coated cherries and hot pepper sauce
